Gear Effect Golf T-Shirt – Toe Miss Physics Tee
Field Note 05 from HYTON Golf. A driver head seen from above, with the ball struck out on the toe. The face twists open, the ball spins the other way, and the shot curves back toward the target. That is gear effect, and it is why a toe miss with a driver tends to start right and draw back for a right-handed golfer.
Why the toe
In a 2016 study of 20 golfers, 25 drivers and about 5,700 shots, more than twice as many drives were hit on the toe as on the heel. Source: MyGolfSpy impact location study, October 2016.
